The Indian Cabinet has approved the construction of the world’s largest bamboo processing industrial park in Assam. Spread across 1,800 acres, the park will focus on furniture manufacturing, paper production, biofuels, and bamboo fiber textiles. With Assam accounting for over 60% of India’s bamboo reserves, this project is expected to create over 1 lakh jobs. The facility will also feature a bamboo design research institute and export warehouse. Officials expect exports to Europe and Japan to double within two years of operation.
